Homework 8 (Optional Credit)

The good. The helpful blogger

This blog is an example of the good in the internet. The blog has countless helpful instructions on how to complete various things. These things are anything from how to become a better coach, how live an easier life, how to write a novel, how to meet deadlines for work and etc. This is an example of the good of the internet because all the instructions it gives are ways to better oneself

The Bad- His Giant Mistake

This blog is an example of the bad. The blog is about a women going through a divorce with her husband who had an affair. She posts about how she is angry and how its easier win in vegas then keep a marriage. The sight got many hits and the reason in my opinion why its bad is because its revealing of personal information about her divorced husband. Sure its not the worst thing out there but blogging has recently become like diaries to people and now they can publish these thoughts. In my opinion this is a private matter which should be kept to oneself or the confidence of a few.

The Ugly- Brandon Turley Facebook Bullyinh CNN Story

This is by far the thing that sickens me most about the internet. Bullying through social websites toady is still a big problem. A boy name Brandon Turley was ridiculed for years and years. There were various online posts calling him crude names. He was shocked because most of the people joining in didn't even know him. The bullying then went from the keyboard to the hallways, people were calling him names to his face and threatening him. The fact we hear about suicides because of Facebook on the news is a problem, and it may not always go to that extent. Brandon Turley decided to stand up against the bullying making the non profit organization Westophate.org. The sight is a place for those who are bullied to find support and share their stories. The face Brandon was able to overcome the bullying is great although many aren't so strong and lucky

Prepaid cell phone privacy

Prepaid cell phones should still remain private in my opinion. The whole reason people get them is to not have bills, contracts, and remain anonymous. Also no one can find out their number unless the owner gives their number out. This is a major invasion of privacy if the government wants to track prepaid cell phones. That is their personal life and the government has no right to track them. Now depending on the company if they decide to have some sort of tracking system they may, although it should not be a requirement of all prepaid companies. Also some people use the phone a lot less than others, one prepaid can last an individual a long time. There are other means in catching criminals than cell phones and it is not fair to ban them because a small majority of people use them for harm.

Tracking Chips in humans

I believe that implanted GPS tracking chips in children is a good idea. This is a great idea for young children especially to find missing children or even make parents feel more safe about their children going to play in the neighborhood. Although this should be completely the parents decisions not a law. This is because parents could be skeptical about the idea of having their children tracked. Especially if there is a third party that can track them such as the company of the tracking device or the government. What if the tracking devices got into the wrong hands? These are some of the things we must worry about and for it to work there muse be some serious security measure put in action. I do not feel the same way though for teenagers. Once a teen turns a certain age or is officially considered an adult they have the ability to turn off or remove the chip. Although having it as a backup for safety in case something does happen wouldn't be a bad idea. But for someone such as your parents to be able to track you at any time of the day is invasion of privacy. The whole reason of growing up is making your own decisions and this is impossible if your parents can see what your doing at all hours of the day. Also relating to seniors I also feel they have the right to decide if they would like the chip. There could be a few choices. The choices could be no i don't want it, yes i do want it, or yes but only if i go missing. My belief is those who can speak for themselves can choose if they want the chip or not.
